写真を撮りながら日本中を旅をするフランスの写真家、Ludovic Balayが「写真を撮るので泊めてほしい」と我が家を訪ねてきたのは、昨年の初夏のこと。見慣れたこの家が異国の視点を通して切り取られることで、新しい表情を見せてくれた気がした。

It was in early summer last year that Ludovic Balay, a French photographer traveling throughout Japan, came to our house asking if he might stay and photograph it. Seeing this familiar house framed through a foreign gaze, I felt a quiet joy at the thought that it might reveal an expression I had never noticed before.
