8月のスリランカの日差しは眩しい。大都市コロンボ、多くのヒンドゥー教徒が暮らすトリンコマリーと国立公園として保護された珊瑚礁が広がるピジョン・アイランド、古くから漁師町として栄える西海岸の港町ネゴンボ、ジェフリー・バワの建築が多く集まるベントータ。バスや列車に揺られながら、一粒の雫のようにきらめく島を旅をした9日間。
The August sun in Sri Lanka is dazzling. The metropolis of Colombo, Trincomalee where many Hindus live, Pigeon Island with its protected coral reefs designated as a national park, the port town of Negombo on the west coast that has prospered as a fishing town since ancient times, and Bentota where many of Geoffrey Bawa’s buildings are concentrated. Nine days traveling around the island, sparkling like a drop, swaying on buses and trains.
