空港から外に出ると一気にムッとした熱気が漂う。客引きや出迎えでごった返す空港を抜けて車に乗り込み、私たちがまず目指したのは海沿いの街だった。
バリ島でのホテルプロジェクトが始まった。ちょうど１年前に旅をしたバリ島から引き寄せられたように、思いがけずに始まった。旅の延長線上みたいに、建築と関わることができたらいいと思う。その土地の自然や文化、匂いや音を感じながら、日常のきらきらした瞬間をたくさん集めて、建築をつくりたい。窓の外を通り過ぎていく南国の景色を眺めながら、そんなことを思う。
渋滞につかまり目的地まではもう少しかかりそうだ。正装した楽団で荷台をいっぱいにしたトラックが、私たちの少し前で、ガムランの音を響かせている。

As soon as we step out of the airport, the air was filled with a stuffy heat. We left the airport, crowded with touts and greeters, got into the car, and our first destination was a seaside town.
The hotel project in Bali started. It started unexpectedly, as if we were drawn to Bali, where we had traveled exactly one year before. I thought it would be nice to be involved with architecture as an extension of my travels. I want to create architecture by collecting many sparkling moments from everyday life, while feeling the nature, culture, smells and sounds of the land. I thought about this as I watched the tropical scenery pass by outside the window.
We were stuck in traffic and it looked like it would take us a little longer to reach our destination. A truck filled with a band in full attire was playing gamelan just ahead of us.
